At The Arena, we believe sport is about far more than physical activity — it is a powerful platform for building confidence, responsibility, leadership, and life skills.
That’s why we are proud to introduce The Arena Future Leaders Programme — a brand-new opportunity designed specifically for motivated Year 10 and Year 11 students who want to gain real-world experience, develop practical skills, and become part of something bigger within their local community. What Is The Future Leaders Programme?
The Arena Future Leaders Programme is a supervised youth leadership and work experience initiative that gives young people the chance to support The Arena’s operations while learning directly from a live sports and community environment.
We are selecting five Future Leaders — one for each weekday evening, Monday to Friday — with each participant taking on one dedicated evening per week from 4:45pm to 7:00pm.
This structure allows students to balance school commitments while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience in:
Sports venue operations
Leadership and teamwork
Event support
Community engagement
Customer service
Communication and confidence building
Why We Created This Opportunity
The Arena is committed to creating more than just a sports venue — we are building a community hub that develops people as well as programmes.
Young people often struggle to access meaningful work experience that feels relevant, inspiring, and genuinely developmental. We wanted to change that.
The Future Leaders Programme has been designed to:
Build confidence
Students will gain responsibility in a supportive environment.
Develop leadership
Participants will learn how to contribute positively, support others, and become role models.
Create employability skills
Reliability, communication, teamwork, and professionalism are all essential life and career skills.
Provide real operational experience
This is not classroom theory — this is hands-on learning inside an active sports and events environment.
What Will Future Leaders Do?
Future Leaders will work alongside The Arena team to assist with:
Session setup and preparation
Equipment organisation
Event support
Welcoming participants
Supporting younger attendees
Maintaining venue presentation
Learning operational processes
All roles are fully supervised and structured to ensure participants are learning safely while building confidence.

We are looking for Year 10 and Year 11 students who are:
Reliable
Positive
Enthusiastic
Motivated
Interested in sport, leadership, events, or business
Whether a young person dreams of becoming a coach, manager, entrepreneur, or simply wants to challenge themselves and grow, this programme can provide a valuable stepping stone.
